Pope Francis proclaims “Year of St Joseph”

With the Apostolic Letter “Patris corde” (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis recalls the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from, 8 December 2020, to 8 December 2021.
In 1989, Pope John Paul II honored Saint Joseph with his Apostolic Letter, “Redemptoris custos (“Guardian of the Redeemer.” You can read that here.
We celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on March 19th. This occasion is an opportunity to highlight the gift of adoption by seeking the intercession of St. Joseph for the many people whose lives are touched by adoption. Resources are available to assist you with inviting others to join in prayer leading up to the solemnity, March 10-18. Click here.
