FT HR Generalist Job Description



TITLE:  HR Generalist         DEPARTMENT:  Human Resources

ACCOUNTABILITY:  HR Director           STATUS: Exempt


Provides varied HR services to management and staff of Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, Catholic Cemeteries, Catholic Charities and related entities.


  • Implement human resources programs by providing services including talent acquisition, staffing, compensation and benefits, training and development, compliance and employee relations
  • Develop and recommend solutions by collecting and analyzing data and trends
  • Completes special projects relating to the ongoing work of the HR department
  • Recommend, develop and implement expansion of services to overall diocesan employees including parishes and schools
  • Assist in the development of programs including compensation, rewards and recognition, performance evaluation, and overall personnel policy and procedure


  • Coaching and counseling management and staff on HR issues
  • Explore and recommend new opportunities for efficiency of the HR department
  • Other duties as requested


  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years HR experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills
  • Ability to travel within the geographical footprint of the Diocese of Wilmington
