May 12, 2015 — (Wilmington, DE) — The annual Wounded Warrior 5K Run and the 56th Annual Memorial Day Field Mass will take place over the long Memorial Day weekend at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware, it was announced recently.
On Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., the Patriots Club of the Charter School of Wilmington will hold their annual Wounded Warrior 5K on the beautiful grounds of All Saints Cemetery. Registration fee is $20 and all proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. The 56th Annual Memorial Day Field Mass will take place on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. and honors all the deceased of the Diocese of Wilmington, especially those who served in the military and those who gave their lives in the service of their country. A brief military tribute will be held immediately before the start of Mass.
These events are open to the public and will be held rain-or-shine. Protection from the elements and limited seating will be provided for the Mass and attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs.
All Saints Cemetery, one of three regional cemeteries owned and operated by Catholic Cemeteries, Inc., was founded in 1958. To date, there have been over 13,000 burials at the cemetery located between Wilmington and Newark on Kirkwood Highway. Members of Catholic families belonging to other denominations are welcome at All Saints. In accordance with norms of ecumenism, members of Christian denominations without comparable facilities are also welcome at All Saints Cemetery.
