Dear Friends in Christ,
As Catholics, we understand our responsibility to incorporate the spirit of Jesus Christ into our every word and action. There is no better way for us to bring the word of God to all people than for them to see that Jesus lives within each of us.
Every day in the Diocese of Wilmington, people in need turn to the Church for help and support. Some are hungry. Some are homeless. Some are sick or overwhelmed by fear, anger or loneliness. People also look to us for help in working with our youth, for family or marital counseling, for assistance in providing their children with a solid Catholic education and for encouragement in their faith growth.
The Annual Catholic Appeal, with its theme, "One in Heart and Mind with Jesus," invites each of us to be Disciples of Christ by sharing the good news of hope and salvation with all people. For more than 33 years, the faithful of this diocese have willingly and generously followed Christ's example by responding to those in need so that they might live more fully. Your support will ensure that the work of our Church continues and that the needs of those less fortunate are met.
I ask that you reflect upon God's blessings in your life and to consider pledging a sacrificial gift to this year's Appeal. Let each of us be One in Heart and Mind with Jesus.
Sincerely yours in Our Lord,
Most Reverend W. Francis Malooly
Bishop of Wilmington
