The Catholic Schools Office will post school closing information on this website in the event of inclement weather. The decision posted here is for all Catholic elementary schools in New Castle County. Catholic high schools and elementary schools in Kent County and Maryland make separate decisions on school closing. Please check your school’s website to determine school closing procedures.
Once a decision is made and posted here, principals are notified and may use a school email or telephone contact system to inform parents. Please check with your school office to determine the local procedures.
News of school closings will be posted to WJBR, WDEL, WSTW, KYW, and the Philadelphia televisions stations (3, 6, and 10).***********
Because school closing decisions are made for a wide geographic area, parents are encouraged to make the best possible decision regarding safe transportation of their children to school on a day when inclement weather is a factor. Even if school is not delayed, it may be appropriate for a parent to choose to travel at a later time or over a longer route when weather is involved.
Within reason, school principals and administrators appreciate the responsibility of a parent to evaluate driving conditions and ability to arrive at school on time.
