The diocese maintains two centers at The Parish of the Holy Child (Sunday, 11:15 am -12:30 pm – first and third weeks of the month) and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (Sunday, 2:00 – 3:00 PM – first and third weeks of the month) serving about 24 children, youth and adults with severe emotional or mental needs. In these centers the children/youth are given religious instruction and are prepared for the sacrament.
There is an annual celebration of the special needs community called “Celebrate Life”. This celebration includes liturgy, the celebration of the first sacraments and is followed by a dinner sponsored by the Seton Council of the Knights of Columbus.
Faith and Light Community
On the first Monday of the month at Mary Campbell Center (7:00 – 9:00 PM) a group of special needs adults from New Castle county group homes and residential care programs meets for prayer, bible sharing, input and fellowship. The diocesan Faith and Light community has an assigned deacon and a coordinating team monitors the program. Over the last five years this group participated in three pilgrimages including our Diocesan Sonrise 2000 Jubilee celebration.
