“Let us who are children of pain be now a bridge or reconciliation. Let us who are the offspring of violence become the channels of reconciliation. Let us, the sons and daughters of bondage, be the bringers of peace.” (Bishop Joseph Francis, Brothers and Sisters to Us)

Mission Statement
The Ministry for Black Catholics of the Diocese of Wilmington represents Catholics of African Descent as we work in collaboration with all departments within the diocese. Working as a part of the Pastoral Services Department, under the Apostolate for Ethnic Ministries, the Ministry seeks to explore and implement evangelization efforts needed to uplift the spirits of Catholics of African Descent, and to bring others, both church and unchurched into the family of the Body of Christ. We seek to generate opportunities for Black Catholics to share their gifts with the larger community, and participate more fully in the church as individuals. We hold ourselves accountable to our baptismal commitment to witness and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
