Prayer for our new Holy Father:
God Our Father, our Shepherd and Guide, look with love on Francis, your servant the Pastor of your Church. Give to him a spirit of courage and right judgement, a spirit of knowledge and love.
May he pastor with fidelity those entrusted to his care. May he build your church into a sacrament of unity and peace. May his word and example guide your people, and may he and all those entrusted to his care come to the joys of everlasting life.
Through Our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
